PERMANENT RESIDENCY VISA

Ecuador Residency Visas

Temporary Visa holders qualify to apply for a Permanent Residency Visa after 21 months of having obtained the Temporary Residency Visa. For this type of visa, it is mandatory that the Temporary Visa holder not to have left the country for more than 90 days during the two years of the Temporary Residency Visa. The 90 days that the Temporary Visa holder is allowed to be out of Ecuador DOES NOT need to be continuous.

The main requirement in order to keep the Permanent Residency Visa, is that the Permanent Visa holder cannot be out of Ecuador for a 180-day period for the first two years of the Permanent Residency Visa. After two years of holding a Permanent Residency Visa, you can leave the country for up to two years.

After maintaining a Permanent Residency Visa for three years meeting the 180 days rule, the Visa holder is eligible to apply for citizenship, for which additional requirements will be needed.
